Catena, the Digital Archive of Historic Gardens + Landscapes, contains nearly 2000 images focused on the villa as a landscape type that may be searched and browsed on a variety of terms.

The images in the database have been gathered from Participating Scholars in the field as well as many prominent institutions. The images have been catalogued according to the standards set by the VRA Core 3.0 using the Getty Vocabulary Databases. Dates and titles were derived in consultation with participating scholars and from sources listed in the bibliography.
